I’m sure you have heard this one before. I have great news you’re pre-approved just come on in and sign the papers and you’ll be off in your new car. So you’re excited right? Your looking at a 2008 Chrysler 300 and were just told by a dealership that you were approved; and all you need is a few small things and off you’ll go in your shiny new 300. Off to the dealer you go, with the few small things they need and you’re ready to roll out of the dealership in your 08 Chrysler.
STEP NUMBER 1
You pull into the dealership and a sales rep approaches you, you tell him you have an appointment and a pre-approved letter for the 08 Chrysler 300. So the sales rep. walks you in and sits you down. About five minutes later the sales rep comes back. This is what he says. “I have your pre-approval letter here and would like to show you the vehicles that will work.” OT!!!! OH!!!!
STEP NUMBER 2
As you walk toward a 1999 Ford Escort you are not only mad but embarrassed. You’re thinking to yourself, is my credit that bad? So here we are, looking at a 99 Escort and not a 08 300. You just drove god knows how far just to be misled into a vehicle that you would never even think of buying. As the sales rep tells you this is a vehicle that would suit your approval and you’re wanting to scream.

This is a promotional gimmick that a lot of dealers are using, first, they will get you in the door of the dealership and let you walk and pick the car of your choice, then put you in the hot seat. The hot seat is the sales rep’s game. Now that you are committed, you will be more apt to buy the lies that are told to you. “LET THE GAMES BEGIN”
“GAME NUMBER 1”
Now the sales rep will run back to the finance manager and present the deal to him. About 3 to 5 minutes later the sales rep will return, meanwhile, all this time you’re thinking there is no way they will be able to arrange financing for me!!! But what they don’t tell you is that everyone is approved. No matter what your credit looks like if you are able to come up with enough down payment, you can get into a vehicle. This is a very strong and successful technique.
“GAME NUMBER 2”
So now you’re approved on the vehicle of your choice, but what they’re going to tell you, you’re not going to want to hear. “The vehicle is yours with a small fortune down.” Now that you know you’re not going to get your thousand you’re not very happy. But the salesman will counter punch with a list of vehicles that will work.
“GAME NUMBER 3”
So you are now on the famous roller coaster of emotions. The sales rep will walk you to the lot and show you the vehicles you will qualify for with a lot smaller down payment. “THE LONGER YOU’RE THERE THE GREATER THE CHANCE YOU WILL BE PUT INTO A VEHICLE THAT YOU DON’T WANT.” In the end, much like a casino, the house always wins.
